While
continuing to strive for professional excellence and growth, Elize Labuschagne
Interiors gracefully shares its experience in interior design and in
business with young people and members from disadvantaged communities.
Education
- A student, Christina
Tshabalala has been sponsored for a year's full-time study in sewing,
with a view to empowering her as a manager in the company's curtain-making
operation
- For two years
Elize presented a weekly radio talkshow aimed specifically at educating
the public about interior design.
- Her presentations
at the Garden & Home Academy have seen Elize being invited back
time and again due to public demand.
Sub-contractors
- Jim Mhlangu
has been trained over the last few years, and is now empowered to
run his own independent sub-contracting business as a specialist paint
technician.
- All upholstery
work for the company is sub-contracted to a 100% black-owned company.
- Furniture manufacturers
and curtain-makers used as sub-contractors all have at least 80% black
staff.
Thusanang
This company, which
name means "working together", is 25% owned by a member of a previously
disadvantaged company. It was formed specifically to train someone into
becoming an independent interior designer. Work is sub-contracted between
this company and Elize Labuschagne Interiors.
